You can swap photos, logos and other images on your site in a few clicks.

Replace an image

  1. Open the page in Elementor and click the image you want to change.
  2. In the left-hand panel, click the image thumbnail under Choose Image.
  3. The Media Library opens. Pick an existing image, or click Upload files and drag a new one in from your computer.
  4. Fill in the Alternative Text box on the right with a short description of the image, for example "Our team outside the Stourbridge office". This helps visually impaired visitors and search engines.
  5. Click Insert Media, then Publish (or Update).

Background images

Some images are set as the background of a section or container rather than as an image widget. To change these, click an empty area of the section, open the Style tab, then Background, and choose a new image there. If you can't select it easily, use the Structure (Navigator) view in the top bar to pick the right section.

Getting images the right size

  • Photos straight from a phone or camera are often 5–10 MB and will slow your site down. Aim for under 300 KB.
  • About 2000 pixels wide is plenty for full-width images, and 1000 pixels for images in a column.
  • Use JPG or WebP for photos and PNG or SVG for logos.
  • Free tools such as Squoosh can shrink images before you upload them.

Image size setting

The Image Resolution dropdown in the panel controls which version of the image is shown. Large or Full is right for most images. Avoid Thumbnail unless you want a small, cropped square.

Please only use images you own or have a licence for. Pictures taken from Google Images can lead to copyright claims.
