Most of the words on your website are either Heading or Text Editor widgets. Here's how to change them.

Edit text directly on the page

  1. Open the page in Elementor (see How to log in to WordPress and open Elementor).
  2. Click on the text you want to change. A blue outline shows which element is selected.
  3. Type straight onto the page, or edit the text in the box in the left-hand panel.
  4. Click Publish (or Update) when you're happy.

Formatting text

In a Text Editor widget, the toolbar in the panel lets you add bold, italics, bullet lists, numbered lists and links. Use the Paragraph dropdown to switch between normal text and headings.

Changing a heading

Click the heading, then change the wording in the Title box. Leave the HTML Tag setting (H1, H2, H3) as it is unless you know you need to change it, because search engines use these tags to understand your page. Each page should have just one H1, which is usually the main title at the top.

Pasting from Word or emails

Text copied from Word, Outlook or another website often brings hidden formatting with it, which can make fonts and spacing look wrong. To avoid this:

  • Paste with Ctrl + Shift + V (Windows) or Cmd + Shift + Option + V (Mac) to paste plain text, or
  • Switch the Text Editor to the Text tab before pasting.

Changing colours and sizes

Font colours and sizes are set on the Style tab, but most of your site uses global styles to keep everything consistent. It's best to leave these alone, or see How to change your website colours and fonts in Elementor to change them everywhere at once.
