How to add an email alias Print

  • email, ox app suite, alias

An alias is an extra email address that delivers into an existing mailbox. For example, info@yourdomain.co.uk and sales@yourdomain.co.uk could both arrive in Jane's inbox. Aliases don't use up one of your mailboxes.

Add an alias

  1. Log in to your account and go to Services.
  2. Click your Professional Email service, then Manage Email Accounts.
  3. Click the mailbox the alias should deliver to. Its current aliases appear.
  4. Type the new address in the empty box at the bottom of the list.
  5. Click Create.

The alias works straight away. Mail sent to it arrives in that mailbox, and you can also send from it.

Remove an alias

Follow the same steps and click Delete next to the alias.

Alias or mailbox?

  • Use an alias when the same person reads the mail, for example info@ going to the owner.
  • Use a separate mailbox when a different person needs their own login and password.
  • Use auto-forwarding when mail needs to go to an address on another service. See How to set up email signatures, out-of-office replies and forwarding.
